I finally got the kinks worked out. Now I just need to figure out why my WVC210 won't do anything for motion detection. I have another camera that is working fine with this setup. Thanks a bunch. I've worked with a lot of languages and program environments. This is my first venture into PHP.

Hi Scott, I can snap an image of my settings later this weekend if you want. The big thing here is to make sure you have the correct SMTP settings. Find out from your ISP what your SMTP (simple mail transport protocol) settings should be and if you need to authenticate. Your cam network settings also need to be correct. Your cam needs the correct gateway (for packets to route out) and your cam needs DNS name resolution. There is a test "e-mail button", do you get anything when you try this? Let me know if you need further assitance.

Happy Holidays!

Great! Yeah, Apache (or whoever your web server is running as) would need the ability to write to the files in that directory. It's not really a security issue if you only change the perms on those files. As a matter of fact you could simply add the chmod command just before the rename. This way the the files are read only until the script runs. Let me know if you still need a hand, but it sounds like you've got it.

I am extremely impressed along with your writing skills and also with the format for your blog. Is this a paid subject matter or did you customize it your self? Either way stay up the nice high quality writing, it's uncommon to peer a nice blog like this one today Goldstar Locksmith 9620 w russell rd #2134 las vegas NV 89148 United States 702-475-6565.

I'm running it on a Linux host. The files and directory are all rw for the owner. I just tried changing the write permissions, and it appears to want to work. So that must be the issue. Thanks for the suggestion.

Hi Ben, double check the path variable I guess as well as permissions on the files. Are you running this on windows?

I'm trying to use the "latest.php" script for this. It seems to run the loop, but no files get deleted or renamed. Are there differences in the way PHP is implemented across platforms?

I was hit with the YLOD on my 60GB last night. After a bit of searching, I found this site and now just over 24hrs later I am back up and running. The video was on point, I had no issues following along. For the cost of the heat gun and the Arctic Silver (about 30 bucks) and a few hours of time, I recommend giving this a try rather than sending it out for repair or buying a new one. Thanks for this great guide!!!!
