If you haven’t heard about Google’s latest effort to improve our online experience, you need to check out Google’s new web browser, Chrome. Its still in the beta stage, but it seems pretty solid. I have been using it for a few days now, and have not experienced any issues. Pages seem to display properly, flash and java enabled pages have tested out fine. I like how the Chrome browser controls use very little space allowing the pages to display near the top of the screen. Even the tabs seem to ride up into the title bar area. The URL field also doubles as a search field, eliminating the extra junk on the tool bar.
There are many new features that will be included with this browser as well. One box for everything which means type in the address bar and get suggestions for both search and web pages. Thumbnails of your top sites which allows you to access your favorite pages instantly with lightning speed from any new tab. Shortcuts for your apps provides desktop shortcuts to launch your favorite web applications from within the browser.
As with all Google products I have tried and use regularly (Google Docs, Webmaster Tools, Google Earth, etc) After my initial review I would already say Chrome will probably end up being my first choice web browser. Pages seems to snap right up when compared to pages displayed in IE 7. Download the beta and give the Google Chrome browser a try. It just might sway even the most loyal of Firefox fans and will certainly rival the ever so vulnerable Internet Explorer.
Might this be another sign that Google is moving in on Microsoft’s territory? Is the day coming when we might be running our computers on a Google Operating System? There is no question when Google does something, they do it right. Maybe Microsoft should pay attention………
Is it me, or do the pages seem to snap up quite a bit faster using Google Chrome? I think I like this new browser for the most part. There are a few things that bug me, but the speed makes up for them. Google does a great job on everything they do. Bye Bye Microsoft! Google OS is on the way I am sure. How about a world or thin client machines that boot right to a Google OS?
