FIXED! Most of the problems with wvc54gca are caused by the wrong firmware. The current v1.1.01 build 01 will break the motion detection completely. Linksys is no help at all. You MUST install firmware v1.1.00 build 02, that is the only one that will fix all the problems with this camera. And don’t use the oldest v1.00R24, that won’t work with wpa2 passwords, and the motion detection sensitivity area won’t work with this version. Hi all,
My WVC54GCA was working great until I had a network problem and called Linksys Tech Support. They had me update the firmware to v1.1.01 build 01, and it completely stopped the motion detection recording feature. I did have v1.1.00 build 02, and it worked fine. Now, I can’t go back to that. Linksys says they don’t have it (they WON”T), all their Foreign tech people are pretty worthless. I realized that my problem was only a router change, but it was too late, the update was already forced on me from them. Anyway, I can’t find anyone with v1.1.00 build 02. If anyone has it, please let me know. I did find v1.00R24 on a site, and tried it, but that doesn’t work with the wpa2, it won’t save the passwords. Like I said, only v1.1.00 build 02 worked for me. If you have this, please let me know. Thank You.

hi mark, i hgave a problem with the file linkviewer.cab i dont understand why?
i can not
I need to to modify an active x entry in IE7 to allow Linksysviewer.cab to
execute. I am receiving a message that linksysviewer.cab unknown publisher.
Am running running Windows XP.
Any suggestions on how to allow Linksysviewer.cab to run?

I have been using WVC54GCA webcam to watch my dogs at home from work. It gives me great pictures and sound using IE, only picture on Firefox. am happy with it, but wanted to see if I could access it via my samsung a777 cell phone. I was able to get to the webpage but it won’t open up an image. I went to click on enable mobile but it’s asking for the “access code” and I don’t know what it’s referring to. I thought maybe my password but nope that’s not what it wants. Any suggestions?

I have an 80n and can only view the cam from within the network it is on. It works with the phone and the computer but as soon as I leave the house it will not let me in. I have tried the sample url’s and am getting frustrated. Can you help? Thanks in advance.

sorry, there’s something missing, it should be:

to be able to install unverified activex for windows vista, u can go tools>internet options>security (tab), then select internet for the security zone.
click “custom level.” then for the settings, scroll down to activex controls till u reach “download unsigned activex controls.” tick “prompt.” then click “ok” all the way out.

accidentally omitted the “custom level” part.

Hey guys,

I bought 3 Linksys Wireless-N Home Monitoring system cameras. So far I’ve gotten my first one viewable from the internet and my blackberry via rtsp://mydomain.mylinksyscam.com/passcode. I did all the port forwarding and I’m using port 1024, I also have Web port 80, rtsp port 554, and port 5000 all pointing to my camera.

I’m having great difficulty connecting to my 2nd camera that I have set up. I’m using port 1025, and I’m also forwarding the cam2 rtsp on port 1026, 5002, and 81 all pointing to my second camera. I can view it online, however I cannot view it on my blackberry tour. I was trying to view it on my blackberry using rtsp://mydomain.mylinksyscam.com:1025/passcode Now the only reason I was able to get the first camera workign is this video tutorial located here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m2LG17dmDfw

Unfortunately I cannot find any documentation online about doing this with a 2nd camera or even a 3rd camera.

Can anybody help me out here? I’m thinking its going to take some serious port forwarding and I’m just learning about that now. I have a Linksys dual band wireless-N Gigabit router.

I suspect this model camera is greatly affected by a small amount of heat – such as 80 degrees F. In the winter, I have these cameras on and they are stable for several months at a time. Summer is here and at about 80 degrees F, these cameras quit working and have the “power issues”.

I would like Cisco / Linksys to replace the faulty power supplies if that is what the problem is. I have had eight of these cameras, sooner or later most of them are somehow powered off and often will not power on unless unplugged for a few minutes, and this often does not work – it is hit or miss. I think that in mild heat, the chips are too weak and malfunction. I have purchased several replacements at Target and Walart, and have returned the malfunctioning units in the new boxes because it is not fair that we should pay for something like this and within 2 – 3 months they seem to go bad. Maybe when they get enough of these back from Walmart or Target, they will fix the problem, or discontinue the cameras…. oh yah – they changed them and the new ones are incompatible with the old ones software, etc. I guess this is their response. No responsibility. I have stable power, many other IP Cameras including high end models from Panasonic and Toshiba, and many sensitive electronics – none of which have stability problems or hang-ups at all.

quick question on the camera.. i have got everything set up with no problems think pretty easy.. am having 2 issues and would appreciate any help guidance that could be provided;

1. on the port forwarding for the 2nd camera (we have 2) I can seem to get to work to access via myname.mylinksyscamera.com…the 1st camera followed the settings and no problem the second cant get to work.. any advice.

2. lastly the camera that can see via public interent cannot see over my blackberry storm..anyone konw what you need to put in to see.

any help would be most apprecaited.. many thanks.
